At Dread or Dead Surf School, we’re the place to take surf lessons; we are your launchpad into the soul of longboard surfing Barbados style. it doesn't matter if you're new to surfing or coming back after a break; our dedicated instructors are here to guide you through each wave, turning every lesson into an unforgettable island adventure.

Beginner-Friendly and Experienced Instructors

If you've never surfed before... That's no problem! The surf school prides itself on beginner surf lessons. Our primary learning outcomes are safe, fun, and real skill development. On the day, the surf school assesses the tide and conditions to suggest one of the local surf spots, like Freights Bay, Pebbles, or Dover. Each surfing session begins with 10 minutes of safety, etiquette, and surfing on land before heading straight into the water and hands-on observing. We have a maximum of four students per instructor, so you can expect personalised attention to your ride and help to stand up and ride as soon as possible.

Explore beyond your first wave. We offer guided surf tours, board rentals, and SUP (stand-up paddleboard) experiences to deepen your connection with the ocean. Let me paint a picture: I had just landed in Barbados, surfboard-less but confident. I figured I’d rent a board, hit the waves, and have an epic surf trip. I mean, how hard could it be? Turns out, harder than I thought especially when you rent the wrong board from the wrong shop.
